Saltos de Las Guazaras, painted relief sculpture: paper, fabric, acrylic paint (13 x 26 x 4″) 1994.

Solo Exhibition (6 pieces):  “Painted Relief Sculptures,” Smith Barney, New York, NY, 1994

In landscape fragments, I created literal sculptural protrusions and textures; then, I painted them to further emphasize the illusion of space.

In teaching art to children, I shared the techniques and an artist’s  way of thinking.  Then, I decided to use the paper-mache techniques I taught them, in works that included draped and stiffened fabric…(volumes from fragments of Dominican Republic landscapes).
